Your new company

Based in Melbourne's CBD, this State Government agency is seeking a Senior Claims Support Specialist to provide timely support to stakeholders in the efficient management of complex workers' compensation claims through advisory line. In this 12-month position, you will be ensuring the organisation is meeting its employer obligations and our injured workers receive correct weekly compensation payments.



Your new role

This role will report to and work closely with the Manager and form part of the Return to Work and Compensation team. You will be required to support, assist and influence the health and wellbeing of employees to stay or return to work after a workplace injury, whilst ensuring the organisation continues to meet its legislated obligations.



Duties required



  • Conceptualise, initiate, implement, promote and evaluate complex workers' compensation projects



  • Provide high level expertise dealing with more complex issues in a specialised support function



  • Proactively identify and promote strategies to improve key workers compensation claims and / or return to work risks and barriers



  • Support the internal stakeholders regarding return to work processes



What you'll need to succeed



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline and / or significant Workers Compensation experience



  • Expert knowledge and experience in workers compensation legislation, obligations and practices



  • Influence behavioural and cultural attitude changes to drive optimal recovery, injury management, claims management and return to work outcomes



  • Strong people and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate on initiatives to improve results



  • Excellent verbal and written communication and case management skills, including organisation and records management



  • An ability to identify risks, navigate complex issues and provide support on appropriate action
