This business has been in operation for three decades and has built a strong reputation for delivering high quality products and service to their loyal and expanding customer base.
There is now an exciting and rare opportunity to join their HR/OHS team in a permanent capacity (North Melbourne location).
Your New Role
As HR & OHS Generalist, you will be working closely with the HR/WHS Manager and offer hands-on support across multiple facets of the business.
You will play a pivotal role in creating a safe workplace by integrating safety into the broader HR strategy by ensuring compliance standards are upheld.
You will support the organisation's strategic HR/WHS initiatives and deliver clear, people-focused solutions.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Support the entire employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, and off-boarding process
- Act as a trusted advisor on ER matters, including conflict resolution, grievance handling and disciplinary actions
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to maximise effectiveness and generate sustainable solutions to ER matters
- Support the delivery of HR initiatives including performance management process, salary reviews, employee reward/recognition, and employee engagement surveys
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the HRIS system, including configuration and data integrity
- Coordinate and facilitate training and development programs to support the upskilling of existing employees
- Assess training needs and facilitate appropriate HR /WHS training in consultation with the HR/WHS Manager
- Develop and implement Learning and Development policy & procedures and training agreements
- Support employees' mental health and overall well-being by implementing initiatives on stress management, resilience building, and mental health awareness
- Support managers and employees on-site with WHS, workers' compensation & RTW compliance
- Conduct incident investigation, study possible causes, and provide a corrective action plan
- Support the injury management process, ensuring successful return-to-work outcomes and minimisation of workplace injuries
- Coordinate and carry out internal audits and facilitate third-party audits
- Develop and maintain the HACCP process control system to ensure the business complies with all applicable food safety standards and codes
What you'll need to succeed
- 3+ years' experience in HR/Safety with relevant tertiary qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a blue-collar or service-based organisation, preferably with multi-site experience
- Experience managing end-to-end employee lifecycle
- Knowledge of Australian Employment legislation and interpreting awards, and agreements
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
- Eagerness to take a hands-on approach with a passion for building positive working relationships
- Passionate about building and influencing a positive working environment
- Sound knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and quality management systems
- Experience in contemporary HR practices and tools, including HRIS Implementation
