We serve the community by providing essential public transport and offering reliable charter services to schools, sporting groups and other recreational groups within Victoria.


The role:


We are currently searching for an experienced WHS Coordinator to join our fast-paced People and Culture team based in our head office in Truganina.


Reporting to the Manager, Workplace Health and Safety, the WHS Coordinator is responsible for assisting the company to fulfil its obligations under bus safety and WHS legislation by providing occupational health and safety advice, support and investigation to line managers and repot on safety related matters and hazards.


This role is responsible for:



  • Providing a support and advisory service to line management and staff to ensure best practice WHS management.

  • Ensuring safety compliance across the whole organisation.

  • Assistance in the investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions, the study of possible causes and recommendation of remedial action.

  • Assisting with the Implementation of programs that ensure all CDC workplaces conform with organisational procedures and safety standards and working with management to ensure the safety of worksites and work practices.

  • Collating safety statistics for reporting purposes.

  • Undertaking WH&S compliance audits.

  • Assisting the management team to ensure awareness and compliance with legislation relating to duty of care, workplace activities and the use of plant, equipment and substances.

  • Supporting the Occupational Health and Safety Management plan and monitor compliance with this plan.


While the role is based in Truganina, there will be times when you will be required to travel to other depots in areas including Ballarat, Geelong and Oakleigh. Accordingly, you must have a current driver’s licence and your own car.


Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Requirements



  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS, education or a related discipline

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice. Familiarity with the Bus Safety Act would be advantageous

  • Knowledge of hazard management principles

  • Ability to identify safety issues and prepare a comprehensive plan to achieve goals

  • Demonstrated experience and skills in an WHS Support or Coordinator position and a sound knowledge of contemporary WHS practices

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills along with a demonstrated ability to establish productive partnerships and working relationships to maximise business outcomes

  • Current National Police Check and Driver’s Licence

  • Ideally, knowledge and experience of public transport or logistics industry

  • Personal initiative and attention to detail and a high level of organisational, planning and time management skills

  • Ability to work autonomously within a complex, fast-paced and challenging environment

  • Pragmatic, solution orientated and energetic


Salary $80k-$90k + super
