About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Australia’s well known utilities construction and maintenance services companies. The role has a key focus to drive the overall SHE strategy and programs across their sites in NSW and beyond within a key part of their business. Reporting into Divisional Safety Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all safety, environmental and quality programs are aligned to the overall integrated management strategic plan.

More specifically this will include:
  • Lead, direct and be the business expert in Workplace Health & Safety for the section of the business you will be part of.
  • Develop programs that improve the awareness and capability of the site around the identification of critical SHE hazards and risks
  • Coach, influence and engage SHE Advisors who report to this position as well as the workforce to understand SHE and increase awareness and ownership
  • Drive continuous improvement and maintain the integrated management system
  • Ensure safety policies, processes and systems are updated in line with legislation to support the ongoing monitoring and reporting of safety performance.
  • Manage workplace incident investigation processes and where required liaise with external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant environmental requirements
  • Report safety metrics to senior managers and the leadership team.  
About Success
Successful candidates will have the following experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Safety and/or engineering or similar.
  • Ideally have construction or heavy industry experience
  • Proven experience in WHS, environmental systems, injury management and quality
  • Experience in conducting operational risk assessments.
  • Relevant experience in training and coaching at various levels of an organisation.
